Local-first voice notes for Android

Recording does not start

Open Android Settings, find Voxellum, and allow Microphone access. Close other apps that may be using the microphone, then retry.

Transcription is unavailable

Voxellum uses Android's on-device speech service and never falls back to cloud processing in this version. Availability and languages depend on your device. Your saved recording remains available so you can retry or type the note manually.

Enable the optional keyboard

In Voxellum Settings, choose Enable keyboard, enable Voxellum in Android's keyboard settings, then return and choose Try keyboard. Dictation is intentionally unavailable in password and sensitive fields.

Export or erase data

Use Export all in Voxellum Settings to create a Markdown copy. Notes can be moved to Trash, restored, or deleted forever. Delete all permanently removes Voxellum's local notes and recordings.
